Sign Language Australia is happy to announce that one-to-one or small group private tutors are available from December 2018 to December 2019.
Individual tuition will focus on the following diverse topics
- conversational practice in Auslan (either basic or complex) for learners of Auslan
- learning about language (understanding of basic grammar in Auslan) for learners of Auslan
- increasing vocabulary related to specific fields such as medical, health, high school subjects, signed language teaching, food etc. or as requested
- increasing awareness of Auslan variation particularly southern dialect and local dialect (South Australian regional language in Auslan) for teachers and tutors of Auslan who grew up in other states or grew up as an oral deaf person
- providing personal support for people who are studying an introduction to sign linguistics (all the linguistic levels: phonetics and phonology, morphology, lexicon, syntax, semantics and pragmatics and discourse) and who are interested in increasing their understanding of these specific topics
